Beautifully framed and matted display regarding Chief U.S. Marshal E. D. Nix including an original U.S. Marshal for the Territory of Oklahoma posse comitatus document dated July 19, 1893 and signed by E.D. Nix; also a Commemorative badge of the U.S. Marshal, a color print sketch of Marshal Nix and brief written summary indicating in part that Nix was born in Kentucky on Sept. 19, 1861; he moved out West to Oklahoma in 1889 and entered the General merchandising business; given increased lawlessness in the area, Nix was urged to go to Washington, D.C. and apply for a Federal Marshal Commission. He did and was appointed Chief of the Federal Marshals, working with the likes of famous lawmen, Chris Madsen, Bill Tilghman and Heck Thomas; Nix and the “Three Guardsmen” helped bring law and order to the Indian and Oklahoma Territories.
