Winchester Model 1876 lever action rifle, .45-60 caliber, 28” octagon barrel, top barrel flat behind rear sight stamped “Freund’s Patent/June 29, 1880” with the same stamping on the base of the rear sight,plain trigger; brown patina with traces of muted blued finish on metal surfaces, wood stocks, four-section cleaning rod in butt trap, S/N 12782. Factory letter confirms features and notes received in warehouse onApril 29, 1881 and shipped the same day to Order number 25005; overall good condition with good action, good markings and good bore; wood stocks are overall good with some old mars to butt stock and an old smallsliver loss to the right top side of the wrist. Freund markings on any gun are highly sought after by collectors. NOTE: An old time collector bought this rifle from the descendants of Tom Horn, the Westernpersonality, in Long Beach, California 30 years ago. Little Johns sold a group of guns and artifacts from this family on November 19th & 20th, 2000. (Antique). Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
