Percussion full stock rifle with G. Goulcher marked back action lock and marked on top left flat of barrel “W. M. Large for L. Turner/Old Center” with “J.J.J.J.” marking on top flat at breech; .40 caliber, 36.5” heavy octagon barrel, grey patina, double set triggers (working at time of description), brass patch box and mounts, wood stock; overall good to very good condition with a crisp action, sharp markings and very good wood stock. Accompanied by a copy of an article in “Muzzle Blasts (April, 1959) with photograph of Mr. Lewis M. Turner who shot the deer with this rifle on December 7, 1958 in Doggitt County, Utah with additional information that a Mr. Wm. Large made the barrel for Turner ca. 1958. Also included is a blown up photo of Mr. Turner and the 7-point deer seen in the magazine article copy. (Percussion). Est.: $700-$1,400.
