Colt Model 1861 Navy percussion revolver, .36 caliber, 7.5” barrel, dark patina, wood grips, S/N 10624; overall good condition with even dark patina to metal surfaces, considerable cylinder scene remaining, crisp action, good markings, overall good grips that show wear and a small old replacement to the bottom front right toe. Accompanied by a Springfield Research Service letter and associated documents indicating the records of the Army Adjustant General’s office show that this arm was used in Co. L, 13th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War and that records of that company show that revolver No. 10624 was issued to Pvt. Thomas Neely (or Nelly) in 1864. The letter gives further information on Neely and the 13th Illinois. (Antique). Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
