Colt 1851 Navy revolver inscribed in script “Captain John B. Brown, 3rd N.C.S.T.” for North Carolina State Troops, S/N 82815. The grips have a North Carolina emblem inlaid into the left grip. Gray to brown patina finish with some minor pitting and erosion. Matching serial numbers. Trace of cylinder scene, dark patina on straps match emblem in grip. 3rd model made 1858 shortly before Civil War. Inventory sheet from the estate of noted collector Mike Sorenson states “John Badger Brown of 3rd N.C. Confederate troops enlisted with confederate forces at the onset of Civil War. He served faithfully during the duration of hostilities and witnessed Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. He was wounded twice and fought at every major battle fought by the Army of Northern Virginia”.
