Manhattan .36 caliber revolver with 6” barrel inscribed “W.G. Babcock N.Y.S.I.” with 1st and last letters upside down? A well written and researched article for magazine with laid out pictures and displays on this pistol, S/N 10347, by noted collector Michael F. Sorenson is included (We believe it was published but cannot locate publication at this time). The article shows pictures of Willis G Babcock with detailed research on Babcock’s service and death in the “Wheatfield” at Gettysburg. At the time of the article a belt buckle and mold accompanied the revolver which we have not been able to locate. The revolver remains in fair to good condition showing rust and erosion in a dark brown patina. They show an old re-coating of varnish or shellac and are fair to good showing carry and use since this application. The address is light but visible. Numbers match and the action is working. An interesting revolver with a great story. Provenance: The estate of Michael Sorenson. (Antique) Est.: $2500-$5000
