Metropolitan Navy Revolver in .36 caliber percussion revolver script inscribed “Lt. J.F. Cheney, Co. C 3rd Reg’t, Gov. Vol Inf”, S/N 2849. This revolver was found in a family collection in Northern California along with the August Machine Works Confederate Navy sold at lot 210 Little John’s Auction June 2nd, 2019. The consignor had not wanted to part with this pistol at the time of last sale date but is now forced to sell due tomedical emergency in the family. The pistol shows a dark uncleaned patina with some pitting, erosion and honest hard battle use. The grips are silver “spangle” inlaid during the period. The straps show a dark patina and the engraving is old and of the period in our opinion. Note: consignor will supply successful buyer an affidavit that this pistol accompanied the August Machine Works confederate navy when he purchased the twopistols. (Antique) Est.: $4000-$8000
