Ithaca Model 1911A1 .45 ACP caliber U.S. issued WWII pistol, S/N 1219139. Estate consigned from heirs of Roland Wahlstrom, U.S. Army, 517th parachute infantry Reg, 2nd Battalion Co. E. Served 1943-1945 discharged from Fort McArthur Long Beach, CA, as demolition specialist. The pistol is in almost fine as issued condition with 95%-98% original arsenal finish showing minor operation, carry and use. He was awarded a bronze star, Purple Heart and good conduct medals. Included are the following items used by Wahlstrom in theature.
A. Bronze star, good conduct, Purple Heart. In cases and not engraved.
B. 5 soft caps with parachute patch or glider patch.
C. 27 letters written home from jump schools.
D. Postcards of Wahlstrom in chute.
E. 3 marksman’s badges. 1 ladder type
F. Dog tags and silver engraved I’D bracelet to Wahlstrom (love mother).
G. Stanley, London compass
H. 6 infantry badges
I. Parachute training manual Fort Benning, GA 1943 with serial number of Private Wahlstrom.
J. 2 maps in jump cases. Unopened
K. Award letter bronze star signed E.G. Chapman Major General. Les Arcs France 517 Parachute Infantry. He strung communication wire under heavy fire killing 3 Germans and charging into their midst (Summarization)
L. Holster, belt, magazine pouch, and U.S. M-3 fighting knife (M.I. Mfg) with scabbard. As worn. Holster 1944 dated. Good to very good conditions.

N. Garand bayonet scabbard

U. His burial flag, his discharge and personal papers and other military papers and documents.
V. Student portrait of Wahlstrom in uniform
This lot was inherited by Wahlstroms brother approximately 20 years ago when the vet passed away. The brother recently passed and there are no close heirs so the widow wishes it to go to a collector that can keep this great grouping together and appreciate Roland Wahlstrom’s service and heroism in WWII.
