Full Stock Kentucky Rifle in percussion with barrel signed in script “A Daniel” and No. 7 engraved on sheet brass side plate. Fancy pierced patch box of generous proportions. 11 small silver inlays and showing old sheetbrass and nailed repairs. Addington Daniel is listed as a Kentucky style rifle maker in North Hampton Mass. circa 1850s to 60s. The rifle measures 52 ½” overall with 37” barrel. The lock plate was originally flint butprobably never used until percussion era. The wrist was repaired during use with sheet brass nailed around wrist and another similar repair to fore end by ramrod rear Ferrell. The lock is not holding on cocking and needsrepair. The condition is good overall with some minor erosion and pitting on the barrel. The heavier pitting in front right side of the barrel near muzzle. Large buck horn rear sight and blade front sight. In my opinionthis maker used an earlier patch box and lock to manufacture this rifle. From an old Northern California collector who purchased many arms like this directly from pioneers descendants from Mt. Shasta to Happy Camp.
