Desirable Indian Trade gun marked “H.E. Leman, Lancaster PA” on the barrel and fox and tombstone on the lock with initials “P A” probably for the state of Pennsylvania for trade purposes engraved simulated Britishproof on the left side of the breech (Indians identified the proofs as good barrels). Thin brass butt plate secured by 2 screws with simple brass escutcheons around lock screws. Iron trigger guard. Measures 51” overall with a 36” barrel of approximately .67 caliber smoothbore. 3 brass sheet type bands and turned brass thimbles. Original very good plus condition with correct lock parts. Slight aging and normal imperfections. Wehave seen 1 other in 50 years which was from the Cowles Trade Gun Collection purchased by iconic Americana collector Walt J. O’Conner who knew of “A Handful” in his 60+ years of collecting. (Antique) Est.: $1400-$2800
