Remington New Model Army revolver in .44 caliber percussion showing old re-nickeled finish with wood grips, serial number 47734. Information gathered by consignor indicates this serial number range was issued to 1st Massachusetts volunteer regiment during the Civil War and he cites Springfield research service as his source which we have not verified. The revolver shows 90% to 95% of an old re-nickeled finish that is nicely aging and toning with some erosion and minor pitting. One nipple is busted and the action works well. The grips show a couple of small losses and a trace of a cartouche with some light cleaning probably with steel wool. It was the habit of veterans to have their swords and arms plated during the late 19th to 20th century and the service was even advertised in veterans magazines announcing G.A.R. events and reunions. Est.: $750-$1,500
