New England Flintlock rifle converted to percussion and stock reduced to half stock with lock marked "Payson & Nurse". Brass New England style patch box with wide butt and brass mounts. Measures 58" overall with a 41" octagon barrel of approximately .56-.58 caliber rifled. Interesting cap box with sliding door mounted behind trigger guard in belly of stock lightly checkered at the wrist and double barrel keys with wood rib beneath barrel. Very good plus condition with considerable brown and most original finish on the stock. A very nice New England rifle that probably went west. Note: Small wood repair on top rear of lock area where as apiece of splintered off wood nailed back. (Antique) Est.: $1250-$2500
