Post War Fraternal SV Sword with steel scabbard. The sword is a post-Civil War SV (Sons of Union Veterans) marked presentation sword. The sword is 35” in total length with a 29” blade. The blade is beautifullyinscribed with an American Eagle, soldiers and a depiction of U.S Grant along with the dates 1861-1865. The maker’s marked is illegible at the hand guard. The brass handguard, and pommel are cast with soldiersand crossed cannons. The leather covered, wire wrapped handle is in good condition with small losses and loose sections. The steel scabbard is in fair condition with brass hangers and light surface rust. Founded in1881, SV (Sons of Veterans Society) and was based on the principals of the GAR fraternity.
