Sharps Model 1859 “Berdan Sharpshooter” range rifle with double set triggers, S/N 54519 (See Flayderman 5F-0237). Good overall condition with lightly cleaned to gray metal surfaces. Good markings on frame with goodaddress and New Model 1859 clearly visible. Lawrence markings on the rear sight. The butt stock shows no cartouches or inspectors marks and is good with many scratches, mars and ding from military type use or storage.The fore end shows an “A.W.M.” inspection and is considerably better condition as are the bands and may be a military repair or replacement. The bore is bright and the rifling is strong. The triggers work well and the lock shows good markings. A significant U.S. military arm that could be called the 1st issue sniper’s rifle.
