Early Winchester Model 70 Featherweight bolt action rifle, .358 Winchester caliber, Serial #241118. The rifle is in fine overall condition with a 22” barrel. The barrel retains approximately 85%-90% of the thinning blue finish with a ramped blade front and folding rear sights. The receiver has gone to a matte grey finish. All matching visible serial numbers including the bolt. The checkered wood stock has been refreshed withthe checkering re-cut. The butt stock ends with a checkered aluminum butt plate. The rifle is topped with a one-piece Redfield mount and a Weaver K-4 fixed power scope. The bore is good, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp. The Model 70 Featherweight was introduced in 1952, with this rifle manufactured in 1953. The .358 Winchester chambering is exceedingly rare as Winchester had problems with the caliber andmany of the rifles were subsequently exchanged for other calibers. Est.: $1,250-$2,500. (C+R).
