Early Winchester Model 70 bolt action rifle, 7mm caliber, Serial #8279. The rifle is in fine overall condition as re-finished with a 24” barrel. The barrel retains approximately 70%-75% of the thinning blue finish with aramped blade front and folding rear sights. The receiver retains a significant amount of blue finish with high point edge wear. All matching visible serial numbers including the bolt. The checkered wood stock has beenrefreshed with the checkering re-cut. The butt stock ends with a checkered aluminum butt plate. The rifle is topped with a one-piece Redfield mount and a Leupold M8- 6X fixed power scope. The bore is good, theaction is crisp and the markings are sharp as re-finished. The Model 70 was introduced in 1935. This example was manufactured in 1937, the third year of production in the rarely encountered 7 x 57 chambering.Est.: $600-$1,200. (C+R).
