Swiss mdl 1899 presentation sword Mfd by Speyer Behm & Co., Bern-Zurich. Straight double fuller narrow blade is 30-½" long and has triple acid ornate etching. Blade shows much spotting. Obverse has paneledinscription in gothic font "Robert Stanz S./L. Freund Arnold Rohrstrasser//Z. Frol. Erinnering Aspirantenschule 1899" flanked by scrolled vine and leaf motifs. Reverse has similar motif in addition to an Athena headover a shield bearing the Swiss Cross emblem with sunburst pattern. Vine motif is etched on the spine. Metal dove head hilt has pierced guard with scrolled leaf motif and Swiss Cross on reeded background. Sharkskincovered grip has triple wire wrap. Leather finger strap is torn. Backstrap has a ribbed thumb rest. Rolled steel nickel plated scabbard has a single suspension ring. Some nicks on scabbard. Overall 35-¼" long. Est.: $400-$800
