Austrian inf. Officer Saber of model 1850 or 1861. Semi-straight nickeled blade has been shortened to 25”, but is nicely triple etched. On obverse is “Treu bis in den Tod!” [Loyal unto Death!], with panoply of armsand is stamped “Ehre und Pflicht//18/VIII//1906 [Honor and Obligation, August 18, 1906] on the ricasso. On the reverse is the royal cipher of Franz Joseph with panoply of arms motif, and stamped “EDJUNG//WEIN” on the ricasso. Blade shows some pitting and tarnishing, as does the B-guard. The sharkskin grip is slightly worn and has a single twisted wire. The tang button has an undecipherable stamp. Steel nickeledscabbard has two suspension rings. Overall 37-1/4”L. Est.: $175-$350
