Imperial German Artillery Sword circa 1910. Pipe black blade is triple etched with Eisenhauer etched on obverse of blade. No maker’s mark. Large half lion head has paws on either side of head. Splayed oval PateraAcanthus leaf backstrap with scrolled leaf ears extending over sharkskin covered wood grip has one rivet missing. Ferrule has Laurel and berry leaf motifs. Obverse languet has crossed cannon over an open Daphne(Victory) wreath, while the reverse has a blank shield. Knuckle bow with acanthus design over crossed flags and drum over all seeing eye motif with panoply of crossed lances and flags in the center. Portepee.Black re-painted metal scabbard has one suspension band and ring but appears to have had two originally. Single large dent on upper 3rd of both sides of scabbard. Match this with “King” of small half-lion head.Est.: $350-$700
