Colt Model 1855 Root 5th variation in .31 caliber with fluted cylinder and 3 1/2" barrel. Finely Gustav Young engraved and S/N 7012E. Approximately 50%-70% original blue remains drifting to a natural plum brown with good markings and edges and some bright areas of blue. The hammer shows most of its darkened case colors. The grips are very good plus with 80%-90% varnish and select burl grain. The action works well and the cylinder pin is not buggered up. Needs a gentle soaking and careful cleaning. The original purple velveteen lined case is very good plus with minor impressions, wear at contact points and minor aging. Flaks is good withdents. Brass mold near fine, Ely cap tin, near excellent wrench with 90% bright blue and key. The exterior is very good plus with minor age crack. (Antique) Est.: $3500-$7000
