Early to Mid-18th Century European Flintlock Horseman’s pistol converted to percussion in the 19th century. Measures 20” overall with a 12 ¾” barrel of approximately .69 caliber smoothbore. Brass mounts with banana shapedlock plate indicating about 1710-1740 production. As found out of the attic condition missing a few screws and fore end cap that was most likely horn. Crude hand carved ramrod with no tip possibly Americanmade as just this type were used in colonies by German emigrants and mercenaries during revolution. Scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion. The stock shows a large chip missing by the tang and some smalllosses around the stirrups of butt cap otherwise good. Lock is not working and the nipple beaten down from firing and use. Small 3 point crown with “V.B.” Initials on the left side of the breech. (Antique) Est.:$600-$1200
