British single barrel percussion fowling piece signed “B. Wheeler & Son” on the back action lock circa Mid-19th century. Measures 46” overall with a 30” half round/half octagon barrel of approximately 12 GA chokedfull. 3 silver or platinum bands at the breech (2 wide and 1 narrow) with engraved blow out plug showing face of bearded man. Good quality overall showing typical engraving and horn fore end cap. The actionis crisp and works well. Smooth metal with grayish patina. The stock is fair to good with minor losses and wear but sound with some age cracks that are “Hair Line” thickness. Large sliver of wood missing fromthe top. The edge of the left fore end approximately ¼” to ½” by 5”-6”. (Antique) Est.: $300-$600
