Full stock “Buck and Ball” percussion gun signed “Moll” old tag attached says “Old Charley”. First gun purchased by R.E. Hefner for his collection on 10-6-38 and bought from Charles Shriner who was born in Fiddletown,CA (Gold Rush area) in 1861. A copy of old newspaper article tells of Hefner’s collection featuring famous pioneer and gold rush arms purchased from original families starting in 1930s. Measures 58” overall witha 43” barrel in approximately .58-.60 caliber smoothbore. Gray/brown patina with some rust and erosion and scattered pitting in firing areas. The lock is marked “Warranted” and working. The wood is good other than largepiece missing behind the lock and extending beyond the lock (3” in length by ½”). Old metal ramrod.
