Pre-War beautifully engraved German under lever drilling, 16 gauge/9.3 x 72R, Serial #20425. The drilling is in fine overall condition with 26 ½” barrels with a full-length hand filed rib with a blade front and folding rear sights. The Krupp steel marked barrels retain a significant amount of thinning blue finish drifting to dark patina with handling marks and German proofs on the flats. The receiver shows toning casehardening and is magnificently high relief engraved with scenes of Bull Elk and Stag featuring a long tang, stalking safety and engraved under lever. The finely checkered wood stock shows moderate wear with dents and pressure bruises, splinter fore end, beaded cheek piece, engraved steel grip cap, sling swivels and a basket weave horn butt plate with moderate worm damage. The bores are fair with light pitting in the rifled barrel. The action functions well and the markings are crisp on this desirable Pre-War German drilling with nitro proofed Krupps barrels. Est.: $700-$1,400. (C+R).
