A very rare Wesson & Leavitt detachable stock percussion revolving rifle, 24” barrel and .40 caliber. An extremely rare rifle made by the Massachusetts Arms Company. Made of the frame of the Wesson & Leavitt “Army” sizerevolver Flayderman states “Quantity made estimated at less than 50 and very probably less than 20”. Her further states “Although detachable shoulder stocks reported”. The ones he saw were “made as one piece with noprovision for removing”. Our example is clearly designed for a shoulder stock which is missing. This is one of the rarest of all revolving rifles and has the longest barrel found on the Wesson & Leavitt. Conditionoverall is good with an attractive smooth patina and only minor pitting. The walnut grips with bruises. All original with good action. Est.: $2500-$5000
