Pair of classic French Napoleonic rea flintlock pistols signed “Prelat Arq De S.A.R. Monsieura Paris” in gold on the barrels with wide gold band at the breech and plat lined pan. Also signed in round cartouche at the center of the lock. Measures 14 ½” overall with a 8 5/8” “Swamped” octagon barrels of nearly .70 caliber Micro-groove rifled. The guns are stout and “Beefy” not thin and refined like Boutets. The pair remain in very good plus condition with browned and patterned barrel showing some discoloration and aging. The locks on both pistols show 70%-90% bright and colorful case hardening. The mounts show 50%-70% case colors. The stocks are very good with minor marks and light wear. All original flintlock parts and set triggers. The French style case is lined in blue velvet with flask, mold and all correct accessories of the period. The case is near fine with minor aging only. The exterior of the case is veneered select grain wood with just normal imperfections, small losses, and scratches and etc. Prelat is lesser recognized as a great empire maker but his best work does equal LePage or Boutet. A outstanding set of Napoleonic era officer’s pistols with very pretty locks. (Antique) Est.: $6000-$12,000
