Colt 1862 Police Percussion Revolver in .36 caliber with a 6 1/2" barrel, fully and finely New York engraved in L.D. Nimschke style, silver and gold plated, ivory grips, and in period partition style case with accessories. The engraving is more deluxe than standard with full engraved ramrod and muzzle engraving almost touching the barrel engraving along with engraving on to of the barrel. 20%-30% dulled silver that is not polished and strong traces of gold on the rammer. Good markings. The grips are nicely aged and very good plus with minor cracking (original to this Colt). The frame and barrel are numbered 34969 and the back strap and trigger guard numbered 38084. Possibly mixed by engraver or factory as pistol was engraved ensuite and always been together in our opinion. The velveteen lined partition case is about 1 1/2" longer than normal possibly for skin cartridges as found in late percussion Colt cases. The flask, mold and cap tin included. The interior is good to very good and original to the period. The exterior is also very good with minor scratches in finish and normal aging. A very deluxe '62 police. (Antique) Est.: $2000-$4000+
