Exceptional German high art percussion target rifle signed in gold on the barrels "Stiegele in Munchen". Considered one of the premier makers of the 19th century Stiegele was in the same top tier as Miller and ValGries, Springer in Wien, and ____________. The rifle shows ornately scroll engraved lock and mounts, silver and gold inlay breech, raised carved stocks, pierced and carved trigger guard, checkered patch box and foreend. The barrel is damascened and also silver scrolls at the muzzle. Target and peep sights. Measures 44 1/2" overall with a 29" barrel in .36 caliber percussion with rifled barrel and semi-false or inset muzzle forbullet starting. Good to very good overall with gray patina finish and normal aging and minor erosion. Good action and set triggers working. Horn fore end cap is missing at the front of the stock.
